Evening Classes
Where do the classes take place?
The classes take place in the main building at King Edward VII Upper School on Glossop Road, Sheffield, S10 2PW. In the evenings we use the Independent Learning Centre (ILC ) entrance which is to the right hand side of the big steps when facing the building.
A few of our classes will continue to take place online. To participate in online classes you will need a reliable internet connection, a computer/laptop/tablet with fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome). Your device will need a microphone, and preferably a camera.
When do the classes take place?
From 7.15-9.00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays different languages and levels take place on different nights. Please see our booking site for our latest programme of classes:

Online classes take place from 7.30-9.00 pm on either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings.
What languages are offered?
We currently offer courses in Arabic, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish.
How do I book onto a course?
1) Please go to the website below:

2) Find your chosen class
3) Once you have selected your class, click on the Book button and complete the enrolment form
4) A member of the team will then send you a link to pay online with your debit or credit card via WorldPay
5) Please note due to limited numbers we will only be able to hold your place for up to 7 days

How do I pay for a course?
We are only accepting online payments via WorldPay at this time. Once you have completed the online enrolment form you will receive a link via email to make your payment with a debit or credit card.
Do I have to sign up for the whole year in advance?
You can pay on a termly basis. Or you can pay for the whole year in advance and receive a 10% discount.
How long does each level last?
Each Level e.g. level 1 lasts for 30 weeks (3 terms of ten weeks).
What if I start a level and decide I would like to move to a different level, can I move classes?
You could potentially move classes once they have started if there are places in the class you wish to join. We can’t guarantee this would be the case.
When will I find out if I have a place on the course?
You will receive an automatic booking confirmation when you book a course from our dedicated booking website. We will also send out confirmation joining instructions to learners as soon after the enrolment deadline closes as possible.
What is the maximum number in a class?
Our maximum number is currently 20 learners for our classes.
Are the classes accredited?
Our main programme of courses are not formally accredited. If learners attend 60% or more of the course they can request an attendance certificate. We are offering exam classes in Spanish for the academic year 2024-25, please see our booking site for more information.
I am not sure which level to join, what should I do?
In the first instance check the course information on our booking site. However if you are still unsure and would like some further advice/information please contact us either by emailing languagecollege@kes.sheffied.sch.uk or by calling the Languages Office on 0114 2296573 (term time only).
Where can I park when I come to the classes?
Parking is available on the school site in the evening. We only use the Glossop Road entrance in the evening. There is a pressure pad on either side of the gates which will open the gates once activated. The pedestrian entrance will also be open after 6.30 pm for learners to access the site.
What do I have to bring to classes?
Please bring a paper and pen to your class .Your tutor will advise you regarding other textbooks or course materials.
